GraceWorks’ Vision, Mission, & Values
GraceWorks’ Vision
Joining in God’s move, raise up a generation of young
people with the attitudes, aptitudes, altitudes, and
certitudes of Daniel, Paul, and Moses: The Daniel
Generation.
GraceWorks’ Mission
Through God’s inspiration and wisdom, to lead
meaningful and necessary change in key Christian
child-training venues – starting with Christian schools
– to robustly raise up the Daniel Generation.
GraceWorks’ Core Values
God’s Work of Grace – Every activity of GraceWorks
is a work of God’s grace, a poema authored by the
supernatural working of the LORD of Heaven’s
armies, who created heaven and earth:
For we are God’s masterpiece (poema). He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good
things He planned for us long ago. Eph. 2:10 (NLT)
This is not Dan Krause’s idea – in fact GraceWorks under my leadership wandered in the wilderness for five long
years (2000-2005) seeking to understand God’s purpose and calling, through great sacrifice and pain. Born out
of suffering, GraceWorks is God’s gift of grace to all it serves.
Practical Activists – Fundamentally GraceWorks is about getting something important done. It is our goal that
every penny invested in GraceWorks, and every minute, results in needful CHANGE that significantly advances
God’s Kingdom on earth. In investing with GraceWorks, you are paying for change.
So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.
James 2:17 (NLT)
Every person associated with GraceWorks will have a demonstrated history of bringing significant positive
change and results in their area of expertise. Every engagement is evaluated by our results.
A 50-Year Play – GraceWorks is focused on helping pre-college young people thrive in a world that is rapidly
becoming increasingly difficult and hostile to Christians. (For example, see John Dickerson, The Great
Evangelical Recession.) Since 2013, Mark Labberton, David Kinnamen, and Larry Osborne, leaders of Fuller
Seminary, Barna Research, and North Coast Church respectively, all have publicly stated that North America will
become like Babylon for our children.
We agree, and GraceWorks is pouring out our lives to help children, in every possible way, to be ready for a
world like Babylon. Daniel, Paul, and Moses are the exemplars for how our children must be trained.
Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
The childhood and adult experience of Daniel, Paul, and Moses were quite discontinuous – certainly as children
they had no idea how radically different their adult lives would be. While we hope and pray for revival in our land,
GraceWorks will focus on high-level, broad and strategic activities that prepare children for a Babylon-like world.
Without question, current research clearly shows that Christian K-12 schools are producing the most Daniel-like
children, followed by Christian home-schooling parents. These are our priorities to help.
Truth-Centered – GraceWorks is thoroughly truth-grounded. This includes our own research – 480+ schools,
80,000+ respondents – as of September, 2014. Truth-seeking includes careful evaluation of our own experience
– at least 600 schools served by our present consulting team. GraceWorks’ leaders are readers – we are
seeking truth from well-researched secular and sacred sources. You can see recent books we’ve read in our
Facebook accounts; we upload key resources related to our work to the guest section of our website. (The
password is vanlunen.)
Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except
through me. John 14:8
Practicing What We Preach – Leading effectively is hard. GraceWorks is organized as a 501 (c) (3) specifically
to practice the same issues that impact our clients every day. You market – we market. You fundraise – we
fundraise. You deal with boards – we deal with boards. You struggle to make necessary change – we struggle to
make necessary change as well. As we have become more effective in the Kingdom of God, we have become
more of a spiritual target, just like you. We walk in your moccasins, humbly before our God.
O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is
right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
New Wineskins – Fundamentally, GraceWorks is about working with traditional people in non-traditional ways –
typically in ways that God shows us. This does not make us any better than anyone else; in fact we are
extremely humbled to be used of God in this way. As we presently understand our mission, any new wineskins
are to be used in the service of raising up young men and women of the caliber of Moses, Daniel, and Paul. That
is why new wineskin ideas such as our Parent Satisfaction Survey, or everything we have learned about Word of
Mouth marketing, are not brought to Christian churches. We do not feel released to do so.
And the one sitting on the throne said, "Look, I am making everything new!" And then he said to
me, "Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true. Rev. 21:5
Grace and Peace - Besides arrogance, another risk for any Christian solidarity such as GraceWorks is to cause
division. God intends GraceWorks to be a true “work of grace” – bringing peace and grace to all with whom we
touch. Whether if with insiders or outsiders, anything less than grace and peace is missing God’s high calling for
this work.
May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and
Jesus our Lord. 2 Peter 1:2
A Gathering of Scattered Leaders – God in His wisdom and mercy intends GraceWorks to be a gathering of
leaders who have been scattered – through wounds, hurts, or circumstance. If you are a Christian leader who
has been scattered, please contact Dan Krause, the President of GraceWorks – (719) 278-9600. Whether or not
we end up working together, we will help you all we can. I understand brokenness.
May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and
Jesus our Lord. 2 Peter 1:2
Seeking God’s Kingdom First – Above all us, GraceWorks is Kingdom-driven, not money-driven. Every aspect
of our culture will reflect the Kingdom of God, particularly and most especially, in money. This will include our
meetings, our materials, our leadership, our consulting – indeed everything about our organizational culture. In
everything, we will strive to ask and answer: How would Jesus handle this?
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything
you need. (Matthew 6:33)
Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, watching over them--not because you must,
but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to
serve (1 Peter 5:2).
Grateful and Optimistic – Even as we boldly minister for Jesus in a world increasingly hostile towards Him,
GraceWorks remains fundamentally grateful for all the Lord is doing in our midst, and constantly thankful for His
love, mercy and care. We will remain fundamentally optimistic about the Kingdom of God working in the living
waters that flow from His amazing Grace.
Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the
race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Philippians 3:13-14
Vision-Driven – GraceWorks is vision-driven, not mission focused. That means the vision of raising up Daniels
will not change, but how we accomplish that mission may very well change. We are not a marketing, fundraising,
or research company, although we are experts at all three. We are choose to work with Christian schools
exclusively in these ways because we firmly believe that right now that is the most effective way to raise up
Daniels. As the Lord gives new wineskins, GraceWorks will work beyond Christian schools to accomplish God’s
ultimate purpose.
